Biography of Helen Ng

Helen Ng, who comes from a background in property development, became Singapore’s first and only female self-storage hub Chief Executive Officer when she took over Lock+Store from Mapletree in November 2010.

Before this, she was part of the senior management team at Ang Oon Hue Pte Ltd, where she oversaw Human Resources, Business Development and Marketing, and contributed to the development of Greenview Mansion, a long-term housing project in northern Singapore. During the same period, she led the turnaround of Sembawang Shopping Centre, which was subsequently sold to CapitalMall Trust in 2003. From 2004 to 2005, she managed the expansion of the Food & Beverage arm at Comfort Perth City Hotel in Australia and supervised the construction of an additional carpark block, helping establish it as a successful three-star business hotel.

A strong advocate of Corporate Social Responsibility, Helen has spearheaded multiple CSR initiatives at Lock+Store. Today, Lock+Store Singapore supports crowdfunding charity Ray of Hope. In 2022, The Store House Hong Kong was recognised as a good corporate citizen under the Caring Company Scheme organised by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. In 2025, Lock+Store won the Social Impact Award at the Singapore Prestige Brand Award in the Established Brand category.

Helen’s leadership and industry contributions have been widely recognised. She received the Singapore Women’s Weekly Great Women of Our Time Award (Finance and Commerce) in November 2013. In April 2014, she was appointed Deputy Chair of the inaugural Self-Storage Association Asia (SSAA)—the first Singaporean to hold a key board position—and became Chair in April 2016. In 2022, she was named Executive of the Year – Building Services & Facilities at the Singapore Business Review Management Excellence Awards. She joined Ray of Hope’s Finance and Establishments Committee in September 2023 and was appointed to the charity’s Board in 2025.

Under her stewardship, Lock+Store has achieved sustained brand excellence, winning the Singapore Prestige Brand Award in both 2024 and 2025. In Hong Kong, The Store House Hong Kong earned Gold in the Services – Best Storage Facility category at Expat Living Hong Kong’s Readers’ Choice Awards in 2023 and 2024, and also received the Hong Kong Commercial Times Business Award and Famous Brand recognition in 2023.
