Storage PLUS was founded by Mitsui & Co. (a Japanese major trading house) in 2006, to introduce a US style “Self-storage” concept to Japanese consumers. 

In 2013 a Tokyo based real estate company Centro Corporation acquired Storage PLUS.

Since 2017, Storage PLUS, as well as its parent company Centro has joined Ichigo group (Tokyo Stock Exchange 2337), a real estate owner/operator who saw a potential in self-storage industry and is eager to help scale the business.

Storage PLUS Shinjuku Nakaochiai was built as an overflow facility of nearby Storage PLUS Mejiro Dori, but with the latest features and coin laundry services.  The laundry space on the first floor has given the facility very good visibility and helped the awareness grow.  It also has “Airy Rooms” floor with a high level climate control system (powered by Panasonic's nanoe X technology. By emitting "nano-sized atomized water particles," it can effectively fight odour, bacteria/viruses, molds, allergens, pollens, PM 2.5, etc., and provide optimal moisturization levels.  These higher grade units are marketed as a premium storing option for clothes and other important belongings of customers.)

Storage PLUS Bunkyo Sekiguchi Store is the largest (440 units), the best performing (occupancy constantly at near 100%) , and the most revenue-generating. Storage PLUS facility with the highest quality real estate profile (8 stories) in central Tokyo. When it was built, it was one of the largest self-storage facilities in Japan. Floor size is around 160 sqm and this site has been open for more than 10 years. 

The facility is located in a quiet corner of the Bunkyo Ward in central Tokyo, which is a historic residential and academic (ripe with many higher educational institutions and rich historical and cultural sites) area. Our block is a part of the traditional printing district now developed into posh condos and apartments.  The demand for storage space has been strong and we expect it to grow.
