As more operators explore remote and unmanned operating models, the promise of lower costs and greater scalability is attractive — but the reality is often more complex.

Drawing on real operator experience, this session goes beyond theory and marketing claims to look at what actually changes when you move from manned to unmanned operations — and what changes again when you try to scale it across multiple sites.

In this session, we will explore:

  • The real operational shifts behind going unmanned (people, processes, and daily workflows)

  • What “scale” really means in practice — and why what works at a few sites often breaks at 20 or 30

  • Common false assumptions and costly pitfalls operators encounter

  • The operational and customer experience risks that are often underestimated

  • The internal capabilities and mindset operators need before making this transition

  • Key lessons learned — including what you would do differently if starting again today

This is a practical, experience-led session designed to help operators decide whether, when, and how to pursue remote and unmanned models — and how to avoid the most common and costly mistakes along the way.
