NEW MEMBER ANNOUNCEMENT: The SSAA is proud to announce our first Operator member in Indonesia: STOW Self Storage. Aaron Farney, long known for his involvement in the industry in Japan, is pioneering operator/SSAA standard self storage in Bali! We’re proud to welcome him as an Operator after dependably supporting operators as a technology enabler for many years.  Aaron - we’re looking forward to more great things!

STOW Self Storage is building the first operator-grade self-storage platform in Bali - an underserved market of 80,000-plus expats, 40,000-plus urban local households, and a fast-growing SME and e-commerce segment, served today by a handful of sub-scale operators clustered in South Bali. The first facility is in Kesiman, East Denpasar: a container-based build on leased land, opening in phases and scaling from Site 1 toward a 1,000-unit, multi-site platform. STOW is positioned as a premium challenger, running the same operator-grade technology stack - Storeganise, Zendesk, Aircall, Respond.io - the founding team has deployed for storage operators worldwide. The approach is capital-light and operations-first: leased land, phased container deployment, and a small senior team that has spent decades operating self-storage and building the software behind it.

Mr Farney has spent 24 years in self-storage, based in Asia the whole time - first in Japan and now in Bali. In 2002, Mr Farney joined Quraz, Japan's largest self-storage operator as the Director of IT and spent 13 years running operations and technology across the network. He also served three years on the board of the Rental Storage Association in Japan. In 2015 Mr Farney co-founded Unwired Logic, a consulting practice built entirely around self-storage technology, working with operators who have outgrown the systems that used to carry them. The through-line is simple: from an operator watching the technology fail in practice to the one fixing it from the inside and now the one building it properly. Unwired Logic implements and maintains; it doesn’t hand over a strategy document and walk away. Mr Farney is not building STOW alone - the team and board bring their own decades of self-storage experience and the technology behind it.
